ANTI-RUIN is a multi-phased, open-ended assembly project designed and led by OZRUH, fabricated in 3D-printed stone by Dr. Pietro Odaglia at ETH Zurich’s Digital Building Technologies, and engineered by formDP.
The project utilises discarded marble dust — a volume of waste nearly equal to that of the extracted material — through a novel application of binder jetting technology.
The structure challenges traditional tectonics: it is hollow, lightweight, reconfigurable, and fully recyclable. The configuration of the stone blocks is carefully designed to achieve stability, balancing the centre of mass, overturning moments, and aesthetic considerations. The final assembly is post-tensioned to ensure the structural integrity of the cantilevering roof beam.
ANTI-RUIN is on display at the Main Exhibition, 1st floor of the Arsenale, for the full duration of the Architecture Venice Biennale 2025.
