A new mixed-use landmark building is proposed in the city centre of Paphos, in close proximity to the historic old town. The development comprises a basement level, retail and office spaces at ground floor level, and three storeys of residential apartments above, with a total covered area of approximately 1,000 m².
The proposed structural system is reinforced concrete, selected to satisfy the stringent seismic requirements of Cyprus while supporting the architectural intent of exposed concrete walls combined with a perforated brick façade. This material palette references and reinterprets the local historic architecture within a contemporary context.
Reinforced concrete cores and shear walls provide the primary lateral stability system and establish a robust and continuous load path for vertical loads. Strategically positioned slab openings allow natural daylight to penetrate the lower levels through the large glazed façade, enhancing interior spaces despite the building’s close proximity to adjacent multi-storey developments.
The project is fully BIM coordinated.
