Our Anti-Ruin Phase II installation was exhibited in the foyer of the Barbican Centre in London as part of the World Design Congress 2025, held on 9–10 September, with a special focus on sustainability.
The installation is constructed from 3D-printed hollow blocks made from marble waste, fabricated at ETH Zurich and shipped to London. The blocks were assembled and post-tensioned on site in less than two hours for the congress.
The structure consists of hollow blocks stacked to form a column, with stability achieved through a combination of counterbalancing and post-tensioning. While the stack is in equilibrium under its own weight, post-tensioning ensures structural integrity against accidental lateral forces, such as human impact, providing both safety and resilience.
